WASHINGTON \u2014 President Trump said Wednesday he has dispatched a \u201cmassive armada\u201d toward Iran as the\u00a0theocratic regime continues its bloody crackdown<\/a>\u00a0on its own people \u2014 with Trump warning that Middle Eastern leaders could face the same fate as Venezuela\u00a0President Nicolas Maduro.<\/p>\n

The president demanded that Tehran agree to negotiate a \u201cfair and equitable deal\u201d regarding its nuclear program and reminded the regime that he wasn\u2019t afraid to use force against it last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cA massive Armada is heading to Iran,\u201d Trump\u00a0posted on Truth Social<\/a>. \u201cIt is moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose. It is a larger fleet, headed by the great Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, than that sent to Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s government shrugged off Trump\u2019s threat, with Tehran\u2019s mission to the United Nations sniping that the \u201clast time the US blundered into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, it squandered over $7 trillion and lost more than 7,000 American lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0that he intended to send ships near Iran, but stressed that he hoped the US didn\u2019t have to use them.<\/p>\n

At least\u00a06,126 protester deaths at the hands of the regime have been confirmed, with another\u00a017,091 fatalities still being verified,\u00a0according to\u00a0Human Rights Activists News Agency<\/a>, which relies on a network of sources inside Iran.<\/p>\n

Another\u00a041,880 people have been arrested by authorities, according to the same outlet.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, two senior health officials in Iran estimated that more than 30,000 people were killed on Jan. 8 and 9 alone,\u00a0according to Time magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Iranian Supreme Leader\u00a0Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also acknowledged that thousands were slaughtered by the regime.<\/p>\n

While protest activity has simmered down from earlier this month following the issuance of\u00a0shoot-to-kill orders<\/a>\u00a0to the notorious Islamic\u00a0Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran has maintained internet disruptions and other repressive measures to undercut demonstrators.<\/p>\n

The anti-regime protests that swept nearly every major city in Iran beginning Dec. 28 had been\u00a0driven by frustrations with the country\u2019s currency depreciation<\/a>, inflation, and other domestic woes.<\/p>\n

On Jan. 2, Trump had put Iran on notice, declaring that if the regime \u201cviolently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following day, US special forces\u00a0captured Maduro and flew him to New York\u00a0<\/a>to face federal drug-trafficking and weapons charges, signaling the president\u2019s willingness to use kinetic options.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Trump refrained from\u00a0striking Iran<\/a>, claiming that he had assurances from the regime that it wouldn\u2019t hang hundreds of protesters.<\/p>\n

Opponents of military action in Iran raised concerns that it would give the regime more credibility and enable it to blame the domestic unrest on outside interference.<\/p>\n

Recently,\u00a0the\u00a0New York Times reported<\/a>,\u00a0Trump received\u00a0intelligence briefings claiming the Shiite regime is in its weakest position since the 1979 revolution due to its economic\u00a0decay and the reverberations of the protests.<\/p>\n
