Ariana Grande<\/span>\u00a0fans were left outraged after\u00a0the star failed to win\u00a0Best Supporting Actress<\/span>\u00a0at the 31st annual\u00a0Critics Choice Awards<\/span>\u00a0on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Grande was nominated for her performance as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked: For Good, the final chapter of Jon M. Chu’s blockbuster film adaptation of\u00a0Broadway’s Wicked.<\/p>\n

This was Grande’s second consecutive Critics Choice Awards nomination for the role.<\/p>\n

But it quickly turned to a loss for the 32-year-old actress as the honor went to a surprise frontrunner: Weapons star Amy Madigan.<\/p>\n

Madigan, who played antagonistic witch Aunt Gladys in the R-rated Zach Cregger horror flick, beat out Grande,\u00a0Elle Fanning<\/span>\u00a0(Sentimental Value),\u00a0Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value),\u00a0Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners) and\u00a0Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another).<\/p>\n

Grande and the rest of the category’s nominees cheered\u00a0Madigan on as she made her way to the stage to accept the year’s\u00a0Best Supporting Actress gong.<\/p>\n

Ariana Grande fans were left outraged after the star failed to win Best Supporting Actress at the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night<\/p>\n

Fans quickly flocked to social media to declare that Grande had been ‘robbed’ and that the ‘wrong witch won.’<\/p>\n

‘AMY MADIGAN IMA LET YOU FINISH BUT ARIANA GRANDE HAD THE BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS PERFORMANCE!!!’ penned on enraged fan, who was copying the style of Kanye West’s infamous 2009 VMAs stage takeover.<\/p>\n

Another wrote: ‘really? was that really the best supporting role of the year?’<\/p>\n

One Ariana Grande fan tweeted out that ‘this award belongs to ARI!!!!’ as they begged for the upcoming Golden Globes to ‘come through for my good witch.’<\/p>\n

Even\u00a0Madigan herself seemed shocked by the win despite Weapons’ pop culture grip and the viral love for\u00a0Aunt Gladys.<\/p>\n

‘I really wasn’t expecting all of this,’ she told the crowd. ‘I thought people would like the movie and I thought people would dig Gladys, but you love Gladys. It is crazy.’<\/p>\n

She said of the character’s impact: ‘I get makeup tutorials and paintings. I even got one weird thing about how she’s a “sex icon,’ which I didn’t go too deep into that one.’<\/p>\n

Madigan went on to thank Warner Bros and the cast and crew of Weapons before giving a special thank you to the fans who found her through Gladys.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old actor beat out living legend Leonardo\u00a0DiCaprio<\/span>\u00a0as he was recognized for his work in ping-pong drama Marty Supreme at the gala held in Santa Monica,\u00a0California<\/span>\u00a0on Sunday.<\/p>\n

However, it was DiCaprio’s film One Battle After Another which earned Best Picture on a night that Jessie Buckley upset a star-studded field in the Best Actress category for her work in Hamnet.<\/p>\n

On the television side, it was\u00a0HBO<\/span> drama The Pitt which took home the coveted Best Drama Series Award with leading man Noah Wyle being recognized for his work in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, during Chalamet’s acceptance speech, he publicly recognized his 28-year-old mogul girlfriend Jenner as he said: ‘Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation.<\/p>\n

‘I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.’<\/p>\n

Jean Smart made history as she earned her fourth straight Best Actress in a Comedy Series honor.<\/p>\n

The 74-year-old acting icon has previously won the same category in 2022, 2023, and 2025. Last year Ayo Edebiri earned the honor for her work on The Bear, but Hacks was not eligible for any awards.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Hacks did not win the top honor of Best Comedy series as they were bested by the Seth Rogen led The Studio after winning last year.<\/p>\n

It also earned individual honors for Seth Rogen in the Best Actor in a Comedy Series category.<\/p>\n

Owen Cooper earned a massive win as Adolescence nearly swept the limited series categories.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old rising star became the youngest ever to earn Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his name-making role for Netflix.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t the only big win for Adolescence as Erin Doherty won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television and Stephen Graham took home Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.<\/p>\n

It also took home the top honor Best Limited Series over All Her Fault (Peacock), Chief of War (Apple TV), Death by Lightning (Netflix), Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy (Peacock), Dope Thief (Apple TV), Dying for Sex (FX on Hulu), and The Girlfriend (Prime Video).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
