\nThe\u00a0Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA)<\/a>\u00a0announced Thursday that it has \u201creluctantly withdrawn\u201d from the investigation into the sh00ting of a woman by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer.<\/p>\n

The state investigative bureau said it was informed by\u00a0the FBI<\/a>\u00a0that it would no longer have access to materials required for a \u201cthorough and independent\u201d review.<\/p>\n

Minnesota BCA Superintendent Drew Evans issued a statement on Thursday morning saying on Wednesday, \u201cafter consultation with the Hennepin County Attorney\u2019s Office, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s\u00a0Office\u00a0and the FBI, it was decided that the BCA Force Investigations Unit would conduct a joint investigation with the FBI\u201d into\u00a0the d3ath of Renee Nicole Good<\/a> during an ICE operation in south Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

\u201cLater that afternoon, the FBI informed the BCA that the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office had reversed course: the investigation would now be led solely by the FBI, and the BCA would no longer have access to the case materials, scene evidence or investigative interviews necessary to complete a thorough and independent investigation,\u201d\u00a0Evans continued.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWithout complete access to the evidence, witnesses and information collected, we cannot meet the investigative standards that Minnesota law and the public\u00a0demands,\u201d he added. \u201cAs a result, the BCA has reluctantly withdrawn from the investigation. The BCA Force Investigations Unit was designed to ensure consistency,\u00a0accountability\u00a0and public confidence, none of which can be achieved without full cooperation and jurisdictional clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital has reached out to the FBI for comment.<\/p>\n

When asked about the matter on Thursday, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary\u00a0Kristi Noem<\/a>\u00a0told reporters in New York City,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019d\u00a0like to know where\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0been and why\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0not out on the streets investigating\u00a0all of\u00a0these people that are harassing and inciting violence on law enforcement officers right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re\u00a0allowing the situation to be volatile,\u201d Noem also said. \u201cThey\u2019re\u00a0not doing their work. They\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0for years. And maybe they should get to work a little bit on the\u00a0unprecedented\u00a0fraud that we\u2019ve seen in Minnesota<\/a>\u00a0and in Minneapolis by people that stole from American citizens and diverted funds away from vulnerable people and programs and services that they needed and put it into their own pockets. Minnesota is a train wreck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evans also said Thursday, \u201cWe expect the FBI to conduct a thorough and complete investigation and that the full investigative file will be shared with the\u00a0appropriate prosecutorial\u00a0authorities at both the state and federal levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BCA remains fully committed to our partnerships to build public trust in use of d3adly force investigations. If the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office and the FBI were to reconsider this approach and express a willingness to resume a joint investigation, the BCA is prepared to reengage in support of our shared goal of public safety in Minnesota,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The fatal sh00ting occurred during an\u00a0ICE enforcement operation in south Minneapolis<\/a>, according to DHS, which said agents were attempting to make arrests when Good tried to use her vehicle as a weapon against officers, prompting a federal agent to fire in self-defense.<\/p>\n

Good was pronounced d3ad after being struck by gunfire. The agent involved has not been publicly identified, and the incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
