\u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 champ Amy Schneider marries fianc\u00e9e Genevieve Davis: \u2018I\u2019m so lucky to share my life with her\u2019<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Jeopardy!<\/em>\u00a0champion, 43, took to social media on Tuesday to announce that she and Davis tied the knot on May 9 after nearly\u00a0three months of being engaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cA year ago today, I was in LA, waiting to fulfill a dream,\u201d Schneider wrote alongside images of the couple\u2019s wedding photos. \u201cThe year since has been full of good days, but by far the best one was May 9th, when Genevieve and I got married. Without her, none of the other good days would have happened. I\u2019m so lucky to share my life with her!\u201d<\/p>\n

Revealing more details about the ceremony in a Facebook post, Schneider shared that the wedding took place in a small private ceremony at the Alameda County Recorder in Northern California, where Schneider has lived for several years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be having a traditional wedding & reception next summer, but our lives have been much too busy this year to get very far in planning it, and we couldn\u2019t wait that long to proclaim our love and commitment to each other,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThank you, everyone for your support!\u201d<\/p>\n

Schneider captured the hearts of\u00a0Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>fans when she became\u00a0the winningest woman in the show\u2019s history, winning $1,382,800 in her\u00a040-game streak.<\/p>\n

Schneider\u2019s impressive run on the show is second only to\u00a0Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>host Ken Jennings, who won 74 straight games in 2003. She is also the first trans contestant to qualify for the annual\u00a0Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>Tournament of Champions, which will air beginning Oct. 31.<\/p>\n

Outside of\u00a0Jeopardy!,\u00a0<\/em>Schneider has continued to use her platform for good, particularly when it comes to\u00a0spreading awareness about recent attacks\u00a0on the transgender community.<\/p>\n

In a February interview with\u00a0Teen Vogue<\/em>,\u00a0Schneider spoke about the \u201camazing\u201d support\u00a0she received from\u00a0Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>fans across the world, explaining that she \u201cfelt a certain responsibility to be my best self and represent the trans community well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt amazing,\u201d she said of the response. \u201cI was expecting a lot worse, a lot more negativity\u2026 but far, far more support and affirmation. That really taught me that we have come a lot farther than I had even thought.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was also worried about that in the sense that I don\u2019t want to present a \u2018too perfect\u2019 image of myself,\u201d she added. \u201cI want everyone to be able to see that whether or not you are good at trivia, whether or not you have a lot of followers on social media, any of those things, you still deserve and can find the same acceptance, the same affirmation and freedom to express who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
