Everyone who works in animal rescue in rural Alabama is unfortunately used to seeing dogs abandoned. Still, when a volunteer named Summer spotted a dog alone in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree, her heart broke for him. She had stopped to buy milk and instead found herself with a new soul to save.

Summer went inside to ask the employees about the dog, and they told her he’d been there since that morning when his owner had dropped him off in the parking lot and driven away. The dog, later named Samson, had been waiting there ever since, hoping his owner would come back for him. Summer did her best to try and win Samson over, but at that moment, he was too nervous to accept her help.
