Mary Cosby is known for her eccentric behavior, but her latest confession is purely heartbreaking. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star broke down at the Season 6 reunion while discussing her son, Robert Cosby Jr., who is currently incarcerated following a string of legal issues.
THE ARREST & THE “DELUSION”
Mary confirmed that Robert Jr. was arrested for violating a restraining order filed by his wife’s family.
“He went back anyway, thinking that she wants him to come back and save her,” Mary explained, labeling his mindset as “delusional.”
Robert Jr. also pleaded guilty to assaulting a peace officer, a serious charge that has landed him in a cell awaiting sentencing in February 2026.
WHY SHE WON’T VISIT
Despite the gravity of the situation, Mary admitted she has not gone to see him.
“I can’t go to the jail, Andy. That’s a little weird. I don’t want to look at my child behind a glass,” she told Andy Cohen.
Instead, she relies on daily phone calls where she “preaches” to him, telling him that God is allowing this suffering to force him to change.
TOUGH LOVE OR ABANDONMENT?
Mary’s stance is controversial but rooted in a mother’s fear. She views jail as a rehab of sorts.
“I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using,” she reasoned. “I’d rather him be there than dead.”
Even her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., hasn’t visited, opting to send books instead. The Cosby family is clearly practicing extreme tough love, hoping rock bottom will finally save their son.
