Anthony Joshua’s driver has been charged following a road crash in Nigeria that killed two members of the boxer’s team.
Police said the crash happened on December 29, 2025, in Ogun state near Lagos, after the vehicle Joshua was travelling in hit a stationary truck on a highway. His personal trainer Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, appeared before the Sagamu Magistrates Court on January 2, 2026. Prosecutors charged him with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s licence.
Joshua was injured in the crash and was taken to hospital, where he received treatment before being discharged on December 31. Authorities said the boxer was deeply affected by the deaths of his close friends and later visited the funeral home where their bodies were being prepared for repatriation.
The court granted the driver bail of KSh447,000, with the case adjourned until January 20, 2026.
